Yellow Etched Vintage Glass Fitterless Electric Lamp Shade Baroque Lattice
An old, elegant, etched vintage glass lamp shade with a yellow to clear transitioning from the frill to the base. The etching appears to be a baroque lattice design and is done in such a way that the design is raised, as opposed to etched into the glass. (My familiarity with this type of glass treatment is too limited to know the proper term.)
The yellow treatment toward the rim has been applied to the outside, and on close (loupe) inspection, I note a very fine texturing that seems to suggest some form of acid treatment was used here as well.
This shade measures approx. 4-1/4 inch high, with a rim diameter of 5 inch at the widest point and a fitter opening of 1-1/4 inch. In excellent condition with no nicks or chips in the glass, just a subtle rough texturing on the rim edge due to the glass treatment and a few tiny encased bubbles around the frill.
PLEASE NOTE: Given the flush rim, it's my understanding this fitterless electric shade was originally designed for European lamps. For use on U.S. lamps, this shade would require a European socket adapter with the shade slipping over the threaded body of one part, and the ring on the top part threading down to hold it in place.
