Taiwan ROC Chinese Chariot Tang Horse Bottle Vase with Meander Pattern
A vintage 1940s black and white Republic of China Taiwan Dynasty Reproduction bottle vase inscribed at the neck with a saying from the Book of Rites in Confucian literature: 'When the great way prevails, the world community is equally shared by all' and featuring a procession of oriental warriors wearing ceremonial armor, marching in front of a Chinese tang horse and what looks to be a horse-drawn chariot. The ceramic vase is finished with a jet black glaze, with the textured decoration then carved into the pottery form. The heavy Grecian-style vase also features Chinese calligraphy and a meander / Greek key pattern around the bottle vase top.
This vase is substantial, weighing 3-3/4 lbs, prepacked. It stands a stately 13 inch in height, with a rim diameter of 3-1/4 inch and a width of approx. 7 inch, at the widest point. It's in very good vintage condition, with no chips or cracks, and only a couple of small, superficial scratches in the black glaze.The red foil label is worn by time, but is marked Dynasty Reproduction / Taiwan Republic of China.
