1958 Buffalo China Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol Plate depicting the artwork of Buffalo China artist Rix Jennings with a flurry of activity in the poulterers' shops as the people prepare for Christmas day. The outer edge of the plate reads "The Poulterers' shops were still half open, and the Fruiterers' were radiant in their glory. The Grocers'! oh the Grocers'! ... everything was good to eat and in its Christmas dress: ..."

The card insert covers reads "Once Again ... we are happy to send you another Buffalo China Christmas Plate designed by Rix Jennings. This is the 1958 edition of the series of Plates that, we believe, will become collectors' items in years to come. The manufacture of the annual Christmas Plate has become a tradition here at Buffalo China. All of our people have contributed their skills in its making and they hope that you will realize the very deep appreciation which they have for all of our good friends with whom it is such a pleasure for us to do business year after year. / Merry Christmas to you from all of us at Buffalo China." The insert center and back are printed with an excerpt of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol".
Plate measures 9-5/8 inch in diameter.
In excellent vintage condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks. Original insert and box included. Minor smudges in design transfer. Reverse shows evidence of the stilt marks having been ground / polished smooth/flat, and the paint transfer on the back has smeared a bit.
