14K Ladies Antique Waltham Pocket Watch Hunter Case - 8 Size

14K Ladies Antique Waltham Pocket Watch Hunter Case - 8 Size

Antique pocket watches have always held a bit of magic for me, especially when - like this ladies Waltham 14K hunter pocket watch - they're engraved.

December 2, 1883 to Nellie ... Given the etch engraved church-like imagery on the back cover, this was likely a wedding gift from and to a very special someone, their bond as solid as 14k gold. But who they really were to each other or what their story was, only the watch now knows.

This American Waltham Watch Co. pocket watch is an 8 size, Model 1873 Wm. Ellery Grade with 7 jewels in a 14k hunter case.  The case itself measures 42mm wide, side to side, and sits 13.5mm high. With a six-month estimated production (April 1883 to October 1883), the movement serial number is 2043280 with a 3/4 plate and lever setting.

The front hunter case cover has an etch engraved floral wreath with an engine-turned finish at the outer edges and a polished shield at the center, with no monogram or other personalized markings.

The white porcelain face is marked A. W. Co. Waltham, with a sunken second hand subdial at 6 o'clock. There is a faint hairline that crosses from the 16 second tick across the V of the dial, with no other issues to the crystal or watch face. Both the front and back hunter case covers are marked E9103, with the back cover also showing A.W.Co. and 14k. The inner movement cover also shows 14k E9103.

This little gem is in beautiful condition, especially considering her age, with only the aforementioned hairline on the dial and superficial scratches in the gold case.  The pendant crown and movable bow / swing ring are secure. The movement winds without issue and keeps good time, and occasionally does seem to need a slight nudge to wake up and go to work, suggesting at some point you'll likely want to have it professionally cleaned and serviced.

Customer Reviews
I received my mugs today and I could not be happier. Packaged with great care, lovely card to say thank you, and all intact. They are better than expected, with the size I really wanted, thinner rim for sipping coffee and hot chocolate. I really have a thing for pottery mugs and these are great quality and wonderful drip glaze. Flashback Alley owner Holly is wonderful to work with, great communication, extra service all along. Thank you again! I love them.

The packages of Royal Doulton tea cups and dinner plates arrived in perfect condition. I could not be happier with the merchandise. Holly is personable and cares about the quality of the product as well as the packaging. Holly is a pleasure to work with and I will be shopping at Flashback Alley in the future. I'm so glad I found Flashback Alley!
