A true set, one bear has three hour holes in the crown of his head while the other has two, with respective gold painted "S" and "P" diamonds on the front left shoulder. With original corks and a blue Japan paper label on the salt shaker, these measure 3" long and 1-3/4" high. Both in excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks noted.

search and indulges in the hard to find, offered for your consideration
is Janet (M69), a sweet figure designed by Arthur "Leslie" Harradine
and issued from 1936 to 1949. According to Wikipedia, Harradine was one
of Royal Doulton's premier and most prolific figurine modelers from
1920 until the mid-1950s, with some of the most treasured figurines
attributed to his gifted talent.

Janet has been modeled under various
styles and sizes, with a search of the Internet and corresponding
prices suggesting this M69 version is most rare. Wearing a white and
pale green skirt with an overdress in pastels of blue and green, Janet
stands approx. 4" high and carries an open basket of what appears to be
yellow and pink roses under her right arm. She is in excellent
condition, with no nicks, chips, cracks, or other damage noted.

The 2006 Antique Trader Royal Doulton Price Guide reflects a BV of $425 on this particular figurine.

Slender and meek, she bends ever so slightly forward, her right arm positioned as though a
hand signal is being given to the adorable, young puppy at her feet.

In researching this piece, I was a bit baffled that some listings
identified her as "Girl with Basket", while other times I was finding
"Shepherdess with Dog". Referring to the Price Guide for Contemporary
Collectibles, it appears she is known as both.

Measuring 10-5/8" high with a glossy finish, this figure was sculpted by Julio Fernandez. Issued in 1969 and later retired in, I believe, 1991. Marked with the blue Lladro insignia. In excellent condition, with no nicks, chips,
cracks, scratches, or repairs noted.

Tielsch & Co. decorative porcelain cup is wrapped in a bouquet of hand-painted pink and red roses against a misty green background, with a single red rose on the inside. A gilt trim adds a rich glisten to the rim of both the saucer and cup, with a gold painted handle to complete the look.

The matching saucer is a matching air-brushed green, the color intentionally intensifying toward one side. Saucer measures 5-1/2" in diameter, while the cup is 2" high with a rim diameter of 3-3/4". The saucer is unmarked, other than an old piece of tape with the faded name "Bonnie" written long ago. It may be that Bonnie was the artist or possibly a one-time owner, or maybe once presented this set as a gift, but I've left the tape in place. The cup bears the green underglaze mark of C. Tielsch & Co., while in the Silesia region of Germany (#202 in Rontgen's book of marks), circa 1910.

artful creator of this four-piece set of chrysanthemum plates, which
exhibit a blend of the qualities found in blue and white transferware
patterns. Framed within the slightly scalloped border is a deep, rich
blue chrysanthemum pattern, with a dusting of gold scattered throughout
and a gilt rim to add the final decorative touch.

These stunning
beauties -- perfect to serve as decorative cabinet pieces -- measure
8-1/2" in diameter and are marked with the Dunn Bennett mark first used
in 1886. Appearing to have never been used, the pattern is alive with
color and shows a high gloss finish. There is a light, fine crazing
commensurate with age, and a well-disguised glaze flake or small,
shallow nick at the scalloped rim of one of the plates, neither readily
detectable or detracting. (One of the plates has a short hairline
showing on the underside only.) Truly a captivating beauty!

The man wears a tricorne hat, with hands gently extended, as if to touch the basket of two small birds perched on the young lady's hip. To her other side and at her feet sits her little, ever-loving, loyal dog.

We've been told this figurine was designed to serve as a lamp base, with the lamp wiring running through the tree stump. The hole does in fact run up through the tree stump to the point where the branches extend out; however, at 5mm in diameter, it may well be too small to accommodate a lamp wiring post. On close inspection, there appears to be a metal rod, presumably for reinforcement, in the upper portion of the tree trunk.

Standing approx. 8-1/2" high, with a base diameter of 4-3/4", this beautiful group figurine is marked with Rontgen's mark #2316, the mark first used in 1902 by Sitzendorf Porcelain Manufactory formerly Alfred Voigt AG, which produced decorative porcelain pieces in the Meissen style. In excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, cracks, or repairs noted, only a hint of loss to the gilt trim and hand-painted decoration.

Matching Set of Le Tallec French Porcelain Trinket Jewelry Boxes

Le Tallec French porcelain is coveted with good cause... the quality and artistry is just exquisite! This matching set of Le Tallec jewelry trinket boxes from Paris is no exception, with a pair of birds in exotic colors gracing both lids, and the bonus of the matching set taking their desirability up yet another notch.

The bird pattern on these trinket treasures is very similar to Oiseaux de Paradis (Birds of Paradise), with the green Marin pattern filling the background. A gilt metal mounting wraps around at the rims, with hinged lids on both boxes and an ormolu wreath latch on the larger box.

The larger, rectangular box has clipped or concave corners, the edges gently curving in at the sides and again at the corners, with the front and back panels rounding out, enhancing the form and appearance of this fabulous box. The smaller egg-shaped trinket box is a perfect display for a pair of hand-painted birds.

These measure approx. 5-1/2" wide and 3-3/4" wide, respectively, and date to the early 1970s (1972). Both boxes are free of any damage (no chips,
cracks, or repairs), although there is evidence of dried paste at the back of the larger box, where the metal frame was mounted to the lid, and slight wear to the gilded metal. The inner lining of both pieces is finished with a gold / gilt starburst or flower decoration, found on both the lid and base.

Marked dessiné et peint entièrement peint à la main par Le Tallec à Paris France (on the larger box) and Le Tallec à Paris France (on the smaller, size-limited egg-shaped box).

While I acquired these as a set and speculate that most would prefer they remain a set, I would be willing to consider selling these separately.

Dating to the 1920s, the stippled body is decorated with an overglaze enamel pattern of alternating zig-zag and fan vertical bands that flank colorful floral panels all around. Each of the two sides features one lone bright flower (clematis?), fuchsia in color that fades to white, with cinnamon brown tendrils waving here and there on a bright green vine. At the spout and handle, a gathering of delicate buds stand young and strong, in relief. The colors and style are somewhat reminiscent of majolica pottery.

In very good condition, I find no nicks, chips, or cracks, only two paint flakes at the base of the bottom petal on each of the embossed side flowers.

Tea pot measures 6" high, 8-1/2" spout to handle. Marked on the underside with the British Registry No. 703242, dating this to the mid-1920s (1924), along with the letters RPCo, a lettering combination used in England by various potters since the mid-1800s.

transferware band of butterflies and flowers in a blue-green transfer,
then been decorated with a butterscotch orange lustre finish. The inner
surface of the bowl adds variety to the border decoration, as here the
transfer appears more of an oriental influence, while the inner base of
the bowl shows a lone butterfly fluttering above a flower in full
bloom, amongst a few tiny flower buds.

Underside is marked Made In
Holland – Societe Ceramique – Maestricht – Tecla. Searching the Memory
of the Netherlands, I found that this pattern (Tecla) is apparently the
work of Petrus Regout & Co. (later known as The Sphinx), presumably
around the time it merged with Societe Ceramique circa 1958.

Measures
2-3/4" high with a rim diameter of 4-1/2". There are a couple of glaze
pops on the inner surface, and stray blue-green transfer ink spots here
and there; no nicks, chips, cracks, or crazing.

She is dressed in full costume, with a wide-brimmed hat or chaperon, topped with a burgundy colored crown and side tassels, and a charcoal black drape or cape falling to the sides and back.

I've seen this transfer print on plates manufactured by Alfred Meakin under the pattern name of Grape Pickers of Burgundy. However, this plate is marked Lecot China, with an additional marking that is only partially legible, but says Hand Painted. Studying her dress, that portion is clearly a transfer, but the grass and sky appear to be handpainted.

Plate measures 10-1/4" in diameter and is in excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks. spatter style, sometimes called cut sponge. This waste bowl stands
3-1/2" high and measures 5-1/2" in diameter, and is decorated in two
bands of what looks like dotted diamonds, in forest green. As can be
seen, the sponged paint smeared in the making at a few points, but the
charm of the bowl remains. Unmarked, this spatter-ware bowl shows the
typical signs of age one would expect – a few glaze pops and nicks, a
small chip on the foot, and areas where the sheen of the clear glaze
has gone flat from contact; nothing to seriously detract from a real
honey of a bowl.

attentively sitting before him. With each gazing at the other, the boy
has one arm draped across the dog's back, while the other hand is

the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), which (according to
Wikipedia) provides "quality merchandise and services of necessity and
convenience to authorized customers at uniformly low prices".

Figurine is in excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, cracks, or other damage noted. Original box not available.

stand face to face in the field, the hunter holding his rifle above the
pig's head. Standing 8" high, this one-liter stoneware stein is
finished in a cobalt blue glaze and topped by a pewter lid that is
decorated with a handsome turkey and has an acorn thumb lever. The
inside of the lid is marked with a round Rein Zinn Bleifrei emblem.
If

question your eyesight if you don't see it, even on the full-size (zoom)

globemallow), done in a thick beaded burgundy glaze.

Illegibly
signed, it appears the name is Zodiac, Zodiii, or some other variation.
The signature is obscure enough that the potter's identity remains a
mystery. Date of 1989 is stamped into the base, just above the base
rim. In excellent condition. Measures 7" in diameter, 5" high at the
tallest chimney.

If anyone has any insight on the maker of this fabulous piece, I'd love to hear from you!

featuring scenes from Coaching Days & Coaching Ways, a book
originally published by MacMillan and Co. in 1888, as written by W.
Outram Tristram, with numerous pen drawings by Herbert Railton and Hugh
Thomson. As for the scenes illustrated on this pitcher, on one side
stands a lady at the water's edge, carrying a wooden water bucket as
she visits with a gentleman rider, leading one horse as his own horse
stands, head dropped, as it takes a drink. In the background, catch a
glimpse of yet another gentleman returning two horses to the stable off
in the distant background. This image is captioned Watering the Horses.

On
the reverse side is a smaller image of the Village Cage at Lingfield, a
Surrey village most famous for its horse racing course, Lingfield Park,
with the historic cage (according to Wikipedia) having been built in
1773 and last used in 1882 to hold a poacher.

This pottery
pitcher is finished with a toffee- or tobacco-colored glaze and silver
luster at the rim and base, with black silhouette illustrations, one on
each side. Measures 7-1/2" high and 6" across, handle to spout. In very
good condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks, although there is the
typical earthenware crazing and wear to the silvering, both of which I
find to simply add to the rustic charm. Marked on the underside with
Scenes from Coaching Days & Coaching Ways by Special Permission of
